The metaphor is great here...

The metaphor is great here...
I admire the temerity of wispy, transient clouds when they overshadow the Sun. The sparrow sitting on a shaky branch displays immense confidence in her ability to fly at the slightest hint of trouble. Suddenly, I see my puny self expanding to cover the city and the Earth, as if I’m the last surviving person … Continue reading Relevance

STORY 1 We are holidaying with an aunt. A strange looking man appears in the courtyard with a piece of ginger in hand. He wants ginger tea. The family looks scared, but … Continue reading No return

it’s new… does it mean it’s welcome
… only if it brings us something better
what does better even mean
seems insurmountable
the division, the animosity, the inhumanity
politics, people, our ever-deteriorating climate
it’s not new… but some positive change would be welcome

Look Ma It’s New!
By Ami (Gypsie) Offenbacher-Ferris

Sitting down at the dinner table, finally! Only after a ten hour work day, driving my youngest teenage son to his soccer practice afterward, a row with my seventeen year old daughter about the mess not only she had bursting through the seams in her room but left everywhere she went! A trail followed behind her like Lionus from the old Charlie Brown cartoons, that was her. Except, the dust cloud of chaos followed behind her, generally, and not all around her. But, something had changed this evening.
I did notice she was eating very slowly and watching her covertly, I could tell she was having difficulty eating. Several emergent scenarios ran through my mind in a matter of…

A brand new idea ….

PROMPT #212
It’s new … does it mean it’s welcome?
It is new, a brand new idea
I’m sure when you pay mind to it
You will be convinced that it’s brilliant
And not only you but thousands more too
Will testify to the greatness of my new idea
What do you mean?
You aren’t impressed by my idea?
You don’t think it will revolutionize the world
But……..
Not everything new is better too
Just because it sounds novel
Test it first and its merits
And then decide if it’s a good idea
Or not!

First in this week ….Michael’s take on the first Xploration Challenge of 2022.

It’s new … does it mean it’s welcome?
My wife went into labour at what I thought was the most inopportune time. Barely a year before my son had been born. He was a difficult child, demanding, and a law unto himself.
I felt as though I had finally gotten a handle and how best to deal with him when I was faced with the prospect of having to go through it all again.
As we drove to the hospital my resentment grew. I felt trapped into an everlasting struggle with babies.
But when baby is due and making all the signs of coming out into the world there is not much you can do but be there and see what happens.
In the labour ward, there was a huge photo on the wall of a flowing stream, I think it was meant to provide mothers with a sense of…
