The auditorium looks gigantic with only four people in the audience. All bookings have been cancelled. Naveen is worried about the bills. He has to pay minimum charges for the event, even if people have not turned up. He gathers himself and starts an informal chat with the four attendees. He thanks them profusely for … Continue reading Launch anew
Eileen does not want to be in Chapter 1 ….she’d rather appear a little late when Morris has committed mistakes and she has an opportunity to change his life, that is if he is willing to mend his ways. I see myself as a creator of both, but they show no respect for the plot … Continue reading Between the Covers
Tourists make a monument whatever it is. I’ve always been fascinated by history. I like to guess the stories of what happened then. What were the characters involved thinking? How did the place evolve to its present state. I want to write a novel, but coming with a physicist changes it all. All I hear … Continue reading Silent monuments
War ….. by Indira
PROMPT # 219
Include the sentence somewhere in your piece.
“War is at the doorstep. What do you expect me to do?”
WAR
War is at the doorsteps.
So?
What do you expect me to do?
Take sides or
take out my armor and sword
and plunge into the war.
What if I don’t want to fight?
For warmongers don’t fight themselves.
They make us fight in the name of patriotism.
We have no choice but to follow.
Who benefits from war except for the armament manufacturers.
But,
who pays the price, who loses
except
mothers, wives, and children
waitingfor their beloved ones.
Still photographs are out. Videos are in. Friends, prospective employers, partners all want to see the vibrancy of a personality, not a frozen mood clicked from wrong angles. But this prompt took me back by two years. The lockdown had just started, and I enrolled in a charcoal drawing class online. Placing still objects at … Continue reading Still life

This weeks prompt: “War is at the doorstep. What do you expect me to do?”
War is at the doorstep
What do you expect from me?
To pick up guns and ammo
or let the enemy be?
There is no point to fighting
for we were already free
Please go back to Russia
So we don’t have to flee.
War is at the doorstep.
What do you expect me to do?
Take away my family?
Abandon all that we knew?
For war is always ugly
and this one without cause
Our world must come together
There is no time to pause.
People here are dying
Lives are all at stake.
How many people do we lose?

The aftermath …..by Usha

War is at the doorstep, what do you expect me to do?
It’s late now, your heart is laden with rue,
Brace yourself, to see a sea of graves, reaching the horizon,
Endless names of unsung heroes, inscribed on monoliths, forever gone,
Martyred for a selfish cause, decorated posthumously,
An appearance of caring generously,
Brace yourself, for scars of wars are invincible,
Wounds embedded deep in the psyche of the living gullible,
Hope and pray, no more, we wake to sounds of bugles and bombs,
Hope and pray, the future wakes to sounds of love and laughter that embraces all homes,
For, we are the world, we are it’s people,
We can make a better day, our voices should not be feeble.
