Living up to the image

“We don’t want a new theme, just a variation of the time-tested theme. The money is there”, growled the daily soap czarina. “But that’s what we have been doing for the last ten years. Let’s give the viewers something new.” “It means I need to reinvent my image. Personally, I identify with what I sell.” … Continue reading Living up to the image

Earth’s fiery demise

Earth’s fiery demise..

By Ramya Tantry

Ramya Tantry's avatarAnd Miles to go before I sleep...

The Sun is disintegrating, slowly turning into a red giant.
So is our planet, slowly nearing its fiery demise.
Have we pushed our planet beyond repair?
Or do we still have time to make repairs?
Mars could be habitable by then,
but without the Sun, will there be Mars?

Eugenia’s Weekly Prompt – Astounding

while it may be astounding
to say the sun is disintegrating
it will

as does everything
eventually, all will
come to an end

maybe not how we wish it
but it will
at last

The End is Coming

The End is Coming ….. by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

Astronomers and physicists have been trying to figure out the ultimate fate of the Solar System for at least hundreds of years.  The Sun gets its energy by crushing hydrogen and other atoms until they fuse together, and this energy output leads to a loss in the Sun’s mass because it is converting around 600 million tons of hydrogen into helium every second, which is over 350 billion tonnes each day.  The Sun more or less maintains its size because it has a total mass of two billion, billion, billion tonnes, or two octillion tonnes.  The tonne is also called a Metric ton and that is equivalent to 1.10231 US tons, just to add to the confusion.  Over billions of years, the Sun will burn through so much of its fuel that it will begin to expand, ballooning out to become a colossal red giant star.  It is expected that…

The Ecstatic of Tours

The Ecstatic of Tours ….. by Myrna Migala

Myrna Migala's avatarI Believe, BECAUSE -

Looking for an interesting place to tour, consider this site rich with miracles, legends, and pagan history.

This strange prophecy below is associated with St. Odile, who is revered as the patron saint of Alsace and this historic site.   History of Alsace

The prophecy stated below sounds like today’s newscast.

There will be earthquakes and signs in the sun

“Before the war breaks out again, food will be scarce and expensive. There will be little work for the workers, and fathers will hear their children crying for food. There will be earthquakes and signs in the sun. Toward the end, darkness will cover the earth. When everyone believes that peace is ensured, when everyone least expects it, the great happening will begin. Revolution will break out in Italy almost at the same time as in France. For some time the Church will be without a Pope.”

Hot, It’s too Hot

Hot, it’s too hot ….by Diana Coombes

Written for Reena’s Xploration Challenge.

This last week has been a weird weather week, and not in a good way.

The sun was so hot this week, there were prefabs in London that caught fire due to the extreme heat. I remember sitting in my car at 6 in the afternoon, and it feeling like the middle of the day, and it was still too hot.

I am old enough to remember the summer of 76, it is still talked about today, as weather being so hot we weren’t allowed to use hosepipes, and could get fined if we did so. Wasting water was a crime, and I used to go to the Lido, where I could sunbathe, swim, and eat ice-cream.

It wasn’t even as hot then as it was on Tuesday.

I went to an indoor swimming pool with with daughter, and granddaughter, and the cold water was…

The Fight

The Fight …. By Mich

michnavs's avatarmichnavs

The Fight

i forgive the stars
for not shining the brightest
at nights when i needed a little
spark of light outside my bed
when my world is at its darkest.

i forgive the rainbow
for not showing up
the day storm took away
my strength, my hope, my dreams
when my world is crumbling down.

i forgive the sun
for forgetting to rise
the morning my soul was broken
by night’s traumatic dreams
and false promises of a better morning
when my world is in complete halt.

and i forgive myself
for not taking on
the fight anymore.

P. S.

When I saw Reena’s Photo Collage Prompt, I immediately thought of the many battles I fought. The kind of fight that seemed to be an endless battle; and I wonder maybe it’s time to just stop. Just stop fighting.

Maybe. Or maybe not.

If ever I do it doesn’t…

He boards the flight to Zanagua, a place he does not know much about, but is grateful to the country because the government has granted asylum to him.
