while the wind carries our destinies in unexpected directions our ambitious nature forges ahead to outcomes longed for we have hope and more importantly desire and passion
This week Reena challenged us to write a prose poem based on this line;
“An excerpts from the book “Extinctions” by Sharmishtha Mohanty. Her new book is positioned as “a book of poetry in prose.”
It came from somewhere too far to walk, from as far away as the most unreasonable desire, the most devastating hope.

The desire was always there but hidden in the folds of unseen barriers. It was hidden yet near to the core of my heart, but always suppressed. Suppressed yet hoping against hope to get a chance to break through the rigid barriers that kept it imprisoned.
I was firm to lock this longing inside my soul for I was always afraid to let it out. Always afraid to let it be seen or associated with me. For I don’t want to be deemed weak or greedy. I don’t want to be seen…
Welcome back to another episode of RXC! RXC #244 is special to me, for the kind of response it brought in. I feel like a voyeur in a room with a mirror, or window view, where talented writers came in and poured their deepest thoughts. I may not come across such intensity and honesty again, … Continue reading Reena’s Xploration Challenge #245

The house is isolated, a little away from the mainstream. People who live in surrounding areas are often perplexed about its existence and purpose. Interestingly, the house has smart sensors and receives signals from different parts of the world. Intellectual inputs and ideas are always welcome. It is well-connected, but not part of a spy … Continue reading House

Crime and Punishment
He’s in therapy now, which he hates, but they tell him it’s the only way he’ll be free of the depression and crippling anxiety and so he’s talking about his childhood and about a time when the chaos in his home was so extreme, his parents both drunk and his mother actually physically attacking his father, that he hid in his bedroom and went to school next day, hungry and with his homework unfinished.
He firmly believes this home atmosphere is at the root of his dark moods, but to his amazement, the therapist hones in on the story he told about the punishment that the teacher gave him because he hadn’t finished his homework.
Let the drum beats pierce eardrums, develop an anthem and get everybody singing it to proclaim alignment. Let not going with the majority feel like blasphemy. Songs replace divergent thought processes, and guilt compels them to put in extra effort. Show them images to incite anger or devotion, and watch some of them write corollaries … Continue reading Drumrolls
The air is foul with discontent Yet soul is rife with good intent These withered shrubs are heaven-sent! My tears drip life upon what’s lost In me I find what I need most I trim and prune forgotten gifts with pain and hope I seal those rifts Like floral blooms through barren cracks I water gloom with joys once stacked To scent the air at any cost In me I find what I need most
The scent of hope beckons lost joy Want and Will cajole bliss gone coy What’s within I long to enjoy… Who am I if not things I do my hands and lips will tell it true This vase of life I’m meant to fill where nature moulds, then nurture heals Let go of fear and share your dream ‘Dreams beget dreams’ – fate’s secret whim The old and new are one not two My…
“This is Indian food for me, not Chinese”, exclaimed a Dutch guest in an Indian restaurant. A friend’s family asks for ‘Indian Chinese food’, on a holiday to India from Thailand. They’ve been missing it so much. There was a ‘Boycott Chinese’ wave in 2020, when the world held China responsible for the pandemic. Consumption … Continue reading Blended
I spent a day in a hospital learning that walking without crutches is an ambition. My cook wants her daughters to be educated well. What’s great about that? Every mother would like it that way. It’s also her ambition to have a sturdy roof to withstand the storms, and a strong door latch to keep … Continue reading Motion
