MOMENT IN THE SUN

This is our moment in the sun
When we embrace the spotlight
Or cut and run
Because it’s too bright!
This is your 15 minutes
Of fame
When we surpass our limits
And dance in the rain
Make the most of our time
Here on earth
Sing; travel; paint or rhyme
Show us what you’re worth
Because we’re just
“passing through a doorway in history”
A mere drop in the ocean of time
A twinkle in our maker’s eye
What happens next is a mystery
Which way you turn
When you walk through that door
No way to discern
What lies in store
Until you turn the handle

Past holds a fascination

The desire to know all that’s hidden

Beneath the dusty pages of yesterday

The wonder of what and how things occurred

Makes us want to step through the doorway in history

And take deep look, at the events that happened then

We want unvarnished, untarnished and unbiased truth

And not the version of one set of ideals or the other

But it it even possible to know the whole truth

And not the one as seen through the eyes of the narrator?

It seems that there’s no going back!

I stumble upon cracks of time
letting out into the now
new born fronds of futures
made up from pieces
of yesterdays
you and I
wandered
wild

Passing through a doorway in history, Peter couldn’t interfere. He was told if he did, then time would change in unfathomable ways. If he killed Hitler, it wouldn’t stop the war, just the time it took to make them.

Today he chose the start of the first world war, well not the real start, but the ignition of the fuel. A reason to start a war, when all they needed was an excuse. His homework book in his bag, and clothes to represent the time, he stepped over the edge and into a different world.

How did they live in a world without internet?

They talked in restaurants, unaware of how close they were to history. One movement to the left, and the war would never happen. He followed the man responsible, through each alley, and for a split second, he…

if I could mend my heart

the doorway to hope

I would scry on the wind and search for answers

falling through a funnel

I’ll still wait and hope

someday I will marry

everything makes sense

years of hurt and pain but then learn my lesson

decry the injustice

with right frame of mind

avenue to freedom

doesn’t hurt to try

if I find the right one and he finds me too

we’ll make the most of it

hope is always there

Woman, Always Enough

and when the night unfolds
i ask the universe as i was told
never good never enough
for what makes a woman good
for what makes her enough?
how much of too much is too little
what makes more a little less?
for time and time again
she’s always told
you’re never enough
no matter what
for whatever it takes
may we all remember
we are all passersby
wanting to leave a mark
in the doorway of humanity’s
historical evolution
whether man or woman
it doesn’t matter
as we are all good enough
more than enough
capable of being
enough.
