The Golden Goose

The Golden Goose …. by Diana Coombes

Slowly slithering, across a soft stream of sea, Giant Beard searched for the legendary golden egg.

Man after man climbed into the crow’s nest.

Legend said, only one, could see beyond. The youngest member, the last of his crew climbed the mast. Goose Island, not on any of their treasure maps, didn’t exist. The captain only ever saw it once before it was stolen by a boy he trusted beyond life.

His face upturned, the crew were as silent as Davy Jones Locker.

‘Land ahoy!‘ Molly Moo, said. ‘Port side, straight as you go!’

Captain Giant smiled; his search over.

Leda Laid an Egg

Leda laid an egg ….. by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

Leda was the daughter of Thestios, the King of Pleuron and the wife of Tyndareus king of Sparta and her name means happy.  Zeus was the God of the sky and thunder and also the ruler of Mount Olympus and although he was married to his sister Hera, he had easy access to the women of the world and he took full advantage of it.  Hera was his fourth wife after being married to Metis (mother of Athena who Zeus swallowed so Athena popped out of Zeus’s head), then Themis (mother of the Fates and the Seasons) and Mnemosyne (mother of Muses).  Zeus was very promiscuous.  He had a powerful imagination and most of his affairs were with willing participants, but he also sank to trickery and disguise to seduce them.  Zeus constantly cheats on his wife, sexually assaulting various humans and finding strange new ways to procreate.  Only the Greeks could make up…

Reena’s Xploration Challenge #275-Just Desserts

Just Desserts ….by Susan St. Pierre

Susan St.Pierre's avatarSillyfrog's Blog

We have a picture prompt this week.

Finding themselves lost in the forest for a week, the desperately hungry and tired wanderers-possibly the only two survivors of a world-wide apocalypse- searched for sustenance.
Ralph and Jeanette were complete strangers saved by happenstance… or maybe divine intervention? They’d briefly heard the sirens when everything was engulfed in a blinding white light. BOOM!
However they’d gotten to the pristine natural setting in what seemed to be an enchanted forest, they were confident they’d never know. All they knew, after patting themselves from head-to-toe was that they each were uninjured and alone.
But shortly after their effervescent celebration of life, Ralph’s realization of their grim chances for long-term survival, made him determined and sober.
Jeanette was still dressed in designer clothes and decorated in lavish jewelry while Ralph luckily wore his many-pocketed work overalls that held a lighter and a few cutting tools.

First step

It is disturbing to see tiny implosions of rebellion in the behaviour patterns of inmates. The sanctuary for oppressed and distressed women has long ceased to be a haven of peace. Brick by brick, our intentions converged to build a structure meant to last forever. Little did I know how visitors will write different stories on chosen stones, and choose to call it their own. They look for their fifteen minutes of immortality, as much as I wanted it for decades. The structure weathers storms, rain … Continue reading Inscription
