How did I end up here?

How did I end up here? ….by sadje

Sadje/ Sadie's avatarKeep it alive

This week Reena invites us to consider a few quotes as our starting point. I chose this one;

“There was rarely an obvious branching point in a person’s life. People changed slowly, over time. You didn’t take one step, then find yourself in a completely new location. You first took a little step off the path to avoid some rocks. For a while, you walked alongside the path, but then you wandered out a little way to step on softer soil. Then you stopped paying attention as you drifted farther and farther away. Finally, you found yourself in the wrong city, wondering why the signs on the roadway hadn’t led you better.”
Brandon Sanderson, The Emperor’s Soul

From where we start to where we end

The journey in never a straight line, clearly defined

Every little thing that happens plays a part

Small missteps, detours and failed shortcuts

When the sage Ved-Vyasa (“the one who classified the Vedas”), decided to compose the story of the battle between the Kauravas and the Pandavas for the throne of Hastinapur, the longest-known epic poem of ancient India.

The great-grandfather Brahma, the creator of the universe, told Shree Ganesh (God of intellect and wisdom. Also as the god of beginnings, Shree Ganesh is honored at the start of rites and ceremonies in Hindu culture ) to write down the stanzas recited by Vyasa.

Ganapati agreed to write only if Vyasa would never pause in his recitation. Vyasa also imposed the condition that Ganapati must take time to understand what was said before writing because he will not be allowed to rewrite.

Ganapati agreed…

Grotesquely

Grotesquely …..by Aboli Mane

I dropped my heart
it split and broke
like a rose-tinted vase
strawberry-pink fluid
stained the marbled floor
it took a while to run out
fizzing bubbling gasping.

Glass buried within flesh
crimson tainted hands
I cleared up the mess
like I always do in resilience
I won't let these walls
recite this tragedy back to me.

picking up the pieces
there's one, here's another
how much can a heart take?
quite a lot it seems
how scarred are my hands?
quite a lot it seems
there I've fixed it again, grotesquely.

Written for Reena’s Xploration Challenge #277. The quote I picked was:

“Everyone has that moment I think, the moment when something so momentous happens that it rips your very being into small pieces. And then you have to stop. For a long time, you gather your pieces. And it takes…

Wandering,

in the midst,

eclipsed amongst crowds,

feel safe among unknowns,

a point that revolves back,

an afternoon,

long forgotten,

in summer’s blisterik* heat,

momentous euphoria,

casting its wings,

on parched souls.

Emptiness,

stark naked,

in wholesome fields,

daylight captures,

moonlit night,

riding on,

fireflies wings,

solitary dreams,

held together,

in web of,

gossamer light.

What happened to better days? ….by Susan St. Pierre

Our challenge was to choose among an assortment of quotes for writing inspiration. I chose the one below.

Was she just too old to understand what progress looked like? Were…

Why Do People Fall in Love

Why do people fall in love? …… by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

In 1680, the French 17th-century philosopher and mathematician Blaise Pascal had his Penseés (Thoughts) published, and since he died in 1672, this was assembled posthumously.  It is a collection of some 800 to 1,000 notes and manuscript fragments on theology and philosophy, expressing his religious beliefs.  Pascal explored the contradictions of human nature in psychological, social, metaphysical and theological terms, while defining the human condition using three words: boredom, inconstancy and anxiety.  Mankind emerges from Pascal’s analysis as a wretched and desolate creature within an impersonal universe, but hope is still there as anyone can be transformed through faith in God’s grace.

In this work Pascal wrote, “The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know.”  Pascal probably meant that truth and reason not only come from what we see and hear, but also from what we feel in our heart.  Since this was in French, it is difficult to know…

Chronology

“Someone has recorded the trail of events in this diary, and available evidence supports it partially. It means there’s someone who is not only aware but involved in the happenings.” “Could it be the criminal or key witness?” Paul’s tone is both insouciant and challenging. “I wouldn’t risk second-guessing that, till all evidence is on … Continue reading Chronology
