The bank executive thought his clever manipulation of financial reports would stay hidden. He also believed that his false disclosures would stay in the shadows of spreadsheets.

For months, he shifted numbers like a magician, conjuring profits out of thin air and quietly sold the company shares he held before the scandal brought about a market crash.

But when every channel blared the news, and he received legal notices for clawback, his exclamations of “Holy Fish!” could not soften the blow.

Shareholders raged, regulators sharpened their knives, and the employees who were victims of his mental abuse quietly celebrated.

    1. Thank you, Frank! In the current scenario, ethics is more about not being caught. If it happens, they struggle for sometime to save face, then develop a thick skin and present an uncaring attitude to the world.

  1. surely is tough to feel sympathy for one who not only steals, but would cover it up, the better to further profit

    all to common in the current state of… wait, no.

    human nature is pretty well set in it’s ways… funny how the improvements in behavior (in many cultures over time) seem focused on the good resisting the bad not on eliminating the bad
