PROMPT #407

We have a sentence to kick-start your imagination.

If I fall, I will take you all down. If I rise ……… tell me where you want to go?

Who is the character saying this? What is the probable situation?

This line could also be reframed as a metaphor for consequence—the idea that no downfall is isolated, and every collapse shakes the structures around it. A downfall is not yours alone; it is the collapse of everything built upon your silence. When you rise, you raise the bar for others.

There is no restriction on the length or format of the piece. There is no last date unless you wish to be featured in the Weekly Wrap.

I am awakening to the power of gratitude as we approach Thanksgiving, and my list of friends on this platform who have kept this Challenge alive and kicking keeps expanding.

Sarah drew me in with her brilliant work, but I couldn’t find her name for some time. Blogs and social media provide ample opportunities to forge new identities. Actors and writers have done it for a long time. Somehow, I like the layers that an assumed name adds to birth identity. It gives us the freedom to choose what we want to be.

Cheryl ‘s tagline is “An onion has many layers, so do I.” Don’t we all have layers, and aren’t we on an exciting journey to peel the layers of other minds by reading and writing? Being a former banker and financial literacy evangelist myself, her number-crunching background piques my interest.
