Confidence

He’ll take time to reach me
He rolls on wheels through spiral paths
through fields and forests; the train stampedes on
autumn leaves on the last journey
He is unable to accelerate, driven by another’s will
But come he will; come he must

the shared secrets will draw him in
the times we spent together
idling away, cuddling on the couch
The movies we saw, while licking ice cream
scoops
The messages he sent and the calls he made
I am the only witness
I am the only confidante

and if there are obstacles on the way, like
the ones placed by Destiny
his soul will fly through the forests
I will hear the leaves rustling at night
I will join him before daylight
to write another story
of devotion; of togetherness
But come he will; come he must
