Easy Day

A body found on the road, no claimants, no identity documents – the case is neither too easy nor too complicated, just incredibly dull.

Inspector Ahaan stretches his limbs and reprimands himself for being lazy, “Time to get into action, dude. You need to earn your living.”

His tall, uniformed frame and handsome face attract attention on the road, and people move aside in a show of deference or cooperation.

He barks orders to the team to perform the usual routines before taking the body.

The distraught look of a dishevelled female catches his attention.

“Do you know the victim by any chance?”

“No. That is the problem. She is not the one I killed.”

The inspector couldn’t have had an easier day.

“Arrest her, and file a first information report. We will start the interrogation late evening.”

He gets behind the wheel and stretches himself again. There is a new restaurant in the vicinity that he hasn’t tried. It’s time to grab a quick bite and a few winks before the mademoiselle barks out the truth.
