A mountain suspects
Its deep-rooted strength
and scalability
a vain King
loves himself and
its unattainability
shapeshifting reflections in water
whisper myriad possibilities
beauty and ugliness,
the real and imagined,
fluid truths in deep-rooted thoughts,
existence draining quietly
by pump or drought
I turn to the solid comfort
of a gleaming mirror
but lights intersect,
playful, bending form,
strategic in their placement,
revealing a different game
-it’s all a perspective
-it’s only a perspective
the real just out of reach

A thoughtful and ponderous reflection, Reena…the photograph is stunning!

Reena, a strong poem with depth, it wrestles with identity, perception, illusion, truth, and the difficulty of grasping something immutable 🙌

A lot of shapeshifting, and manipulation going on in the world. Superb piece, Reena.

Love the image of the mountain and water…. and it made me think that the water will one day erode into silt in the water.

Shapeshifting and perspective–what is real and what is illusion? A wonderful take on the prompt, Reena!
