Digital Clocks

Why did she not respond there and then to say she did not like the other person’s behaviour and was not going to put up with it?

It set up wrong expectations, and the relationship loops got badly entangled. She loses respect for herself whenever she thinks of it.

She finds herself replaying those scenarios and conversations in her head, each time responding from a place of clarity and strength. But these imaginary verbal duels, she realises, are futile. They offer no real resolution or progress.

The moments are lost, and so are the advantages or disadvantages that could have come her way.

Maybe, they assumed she would change her mind. Maybe, she thought, she would gain from silence.

Now, the sky of her mental frame is clear. Her stance, she knows, has remained unchanged for decades and will continue to do so. This is not a flaw, but a living proof of her unwavering personality and her truth.

In the future, she will not let people trample over her truth, which means she will not allow others to disrespect her values, beliefs, or boundaries.

Round dials have given way to digital clocks. 24 hours are just an imposed limit.

  1. That last line is great. We all think the limit of the day is adequate. But we really need to hold on to our strengths and not let constant change destroy our steadfastness. And yet we do make mistakes… if we could just learn from them instead of repeating them.
