I watch the eras parading by
stories bloom on my wrinkled skin
I hug each moment to say
goodbye and release it
to free both of us
from memories
Death beckons
I find
peace

I remember when I was “young.” I thought I had so much time to do everything I wanted to do. Now that I’m “older,” I struggle to find enough time to do everything I want to do. Your poem depicts the movement of time so well, Reena. 💜

You are right. We realise at a certain point, that there is more behind us than ahead, and we struggle to make those years meaningful.

This is a very true view of growing older… It is a shock when you realise that there is more behind you than there is infront.💜🤔🤔

What a beautiful poem. It goes so beautifully with our Story Chat poets this week. I don’t usually share links in comments, but your poem is so perfect. https://alwayswrite.blog/2025/07/22/story-chat-digest-july-poetry/

You’ve beautifully captured the flow of life, Reena. I almost chose the same photo – for similar reasons. 🌞
