Solstice

Every twenty-four hours, the Earth turns once on its axis, as if it needs time to reconsider.

From my vantage point, the sun rises like a forgiving god, spreading hope. Yet for another, it’s already a canvas of nightfall and introspection. The same globe, serenely rotating beneath our feet, offers us a kaleidoscope of views—not just of the sky, but of the narratives we weave.

Perspective isn’t a virtue; it’s a fundamental feature woven into the planet’s curvature. You could debate endlessly with someone witnessing a sunset while seeing a dawn, but neither of you would be incorrect. You’re simply gazing in different directions as the world twirls beneath a truth that’s as dynamic as it is constant.

Perhaps that’s the essence of wisdom: not clinging to a fixed spot, but learning to orbit and adjust with time zones and moods. It is about understanding that certainty is merely a brief interlude between revolutions.

We build meaning like sundials, trusting the tilt of the Earth to cast the right shadow. But even shadows move. They have to.

We continue to revolve—sometimes with grace, with a sense of clinging to the edge—searching not for absolute truth, but for the perspective that resonates with us.

shadows pause, then shift.

  1. I loved your poetic description about the essence of wisdom and the way you captured the depth of nature in this post, Reena. Our perspectives are shaped by our individual experiences, beliefs, values, and biases and we will all draw different conclusions to what is going on.
