He switches off to elude the trace,
alone in a bunker, a ghost in space.
Sweat beads whisper of pending doom,
A life behind bars, or in a tomb.
Gun barrel cradles restless sleep,
echoes wail—grief runs deep.
A child’s voice, a sorrowed plea,
“Why did you take him away from me?”
Doubt creeps in, beliefs grow thin,
A shadow looms where hope had been.
One side cheers, the other weeps
Faith devoured, the cycle repeats.

Powerful poem, Reena. Well written.

Reena, it’s difficult to know what’s going on in their minds. But you have captured it so well.

A 19-year-old domestic servant was lured by a pretty face on FB and given Rs.10000/- to reach Guwahati and a vehicle would pick him up from there. He was saved in the nick of time as an older lady came on line and started abusing him when his employer asked for explanations. He was sworn to secrecy.
