Transit mode

He has a presence despite his shabby appearance. Maybe we are drawn to his ferocious eyes, looking for a challenge.

One feels compelled to keep a distance. The boundary lines are invisible but sharp.

He surprises us with a mellow voice,

“Can you help me in finding this address?”

“Are you from the police?”

“No.”

“You need to turn right and then go up the hill to this secluded cottage under the shade of an oak tree. But the place is not  considered safe.”

“I’ve played with danger from the time out of the ninth month midnight. Someone told my mother she would give birth to a reincarnation of the Devil.”

Some of us visibly shrunk in size or stepped back.

“Thanks, guys! That house is uninhabited and will be my abode. I was killed but could not leave this world. I’m in transit.”

  1. Is it an evil aura of a living man or that of a ghost unable to escape his evil? I’m of two minds and no doubt there are other possibilities as well. He may just be a survivor despite the odds, determined to make his way in the world in spite of the obstacles placed in his way. All in all, an intriguing and entertaining story, Reena.
