Reena’s Xploration Challenge #354

Welcome to a night of celebrations, whether you are Trick-or-Treating or Diwali meeting-and-eating!

Diwali always falls on a New Moon night, and people light lamps and burst crackers to obliterate the darkness. It also celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, gods over demons and so on.

On Halloween (as far as my understanding goes), people stay awake in costumes to ward off spirits.

I see the fear of darkness or demons as the common factor.

I googled words to describe

Fear of Darkness – Nyctophobia, Achluophobia, Scotophobia, lygophobia

Fear of the Dead – Necrophobia, Thanatophobia

How innovative are we to overcome fear with partying and celebrations instead of trying exposure therapy or desensitisation 🙂 I’m sure getting together reduces anxiety, be it about anything.

This brings me to the African concept of Ubuntu. Copilot describes it as

Key Aspects of Ubuntu:

  1. Community and Collectivism: The philosophy promotes the community’s well-being over individualism. It encourages actions that benefit the group and foster harmony.
  2. Compassion and Empathy: Ubuntu involves showing kindness, compassion, and empathy towards others, recognising that everyone is part of a more prominent human family.
  3. Restorative Justice: Ubuntu has been used to promote reconciliation and healing.

PROMPT #354

This is a very open prompt.

Pick up any word or the theme/spirit as you see it in the above write-up, and expand it into a post.

Feel free to challenge my perspectives and add to the repertoire of combined wisdom.

The format of the piece is not restricted, and there is no last date either unless you wish to be featured in the Weekly Wrap.

We will not include any post that is found to be offensive, vulgar or hurts ordinary sensibilities. This needs to be a safe space.

Create a post on your blog and copy-paste the link in the Comments. If you use a pingback, check to see if it has worked.
