Ocean…
Will you share your secrets
both dark and right?
Why do you give shelter to monstrous beings
as well as pretty harmless ones?
Do you reflect reality of the terrestrial world
or have a different order?
Why do you crash on the shore
to hurt yourself
as you retreat into your liquid shell?
When you reflect colors of the sky
Do you absorb some of them
or bounce them back where they belong?
You remain an enigma
for the ships that tear your being
and reach somewhere
but know nothing…
those ships are as inquisitive
and as ignorant
as I am
alone on the shore
trying to decipher
your darkness and light
sounds of the night
the sands are as thirsty
as arid deserts
for the taste you leave
withdrawing intimacy
every day and night
the tourists are just onlookers
having a good time
capturing moments on cameras
as you seeth within
prepare for the next wrath
to be unleashed..
Ocean,
I’ll let you laugh at me
But do give me some insights
On all that’s fluid
Yet, permanent like
darkness and light

“Why do you crash on the shore
to hurt yourself
as you retreat into your liquid shell?”
“Ocean,
I’ll let you laugh at me
But do give me some insights
On all that’s fluid
Yet, permanent like
darkness and light”
Love these.🌊

It is lovely to see how you have grown as a poet. This poem is full of ideas and concrete moments- adding up to a whole. Well done- I love your structure.

I do like the structure, it adds to the allure, and mystery of the ocean you are trying to understand. I do like this stanza
the tourists are just onlookers
having a good time
capturing moments on cameras
as you seeth within
prepare for the next wrath
to be unleashed..
As I often wonder how much the ocean seethes at us!

Such a splendid response to the prompt, Reena! I love; “the sands are as thirsty as arid deserts for the taste you leave withdrawing intimacy
every day and night.” 💖💖

I love the shape of your poem, Reena, and the way you address the ocean with questions. I especially like the lines:
‘When you reflect colors of the sky
Do you absorb some of them
or bounce them back where they belong?’
