intellect
power
innovation
invention
blaze new maps
on existing territories
leadership
creates vision
new territories
submit themselves
for exploration
don’t underestimate
preservation
but choose
what needs to be preserved
and what dumped
decisions take humankind
to unforeseeable futures
each thought drives
each step matters

“but choose
what needs to be preserved
and what dumped”
I’ve always resonated with the advice, “never hold onto tradition just for tradition’s sake, nor change something just for change’s sake, but always make a deliberate choice each time.”
Good poem!

Spot on, Reena! Those last two lines especially. Sometimes, I wish we’d spend more time understanding how progress introduces and affects change in our society. I’m guessing if we were more thoughtful (or really cared), we’d bring to market more of what makes sense rather than a quick payday.

Competition and vested interests block real understanding.

Yeah, you’re right. But I wish you weren’t. That would be Utopia then, and that doesn’t exist! 😉

This took me to my thoughts on AI. Human decisions and regulations need to be quick sometimes or they may some day be out of our control. Each step does matter.
