Childhood

when leaping into the future felt so good,
embracing the unknown with open arms,
leaving behind what once was understood,
embracing new beginnings, new charms.

embracing the unknown with open arms,
the thrill of possibilities untold,
embracing new beginnings, new charms,
eagerly into the future, I behold.

the thrill of possibilities untold,
exploring paths yet to be unveiled,
eagerly into the future, I behold,
with courage and curiosity impaled.

exploring paths yet to be unveiled,
leaving behind what once was understood,
with courage and curiosity impaled,
when leaping into the future felt so good.

  2. Reena, I love the optimism and sense of anticipation in this Pantoum, the movement between past, present and future is so profound. We are whisked from one into another in what seems to be a short space of time and we are left with a sense of hopefulness. A lovely Pantoum

  3. I wish all of this for the youngsters as they head forward. This is my favorite line:

leaving behind what once was understood,

It’s that stuff that is “understood” that can keep us trapped in the past, and we see how well the past has served us. Great write to the prompt and the form with its repeats to reinforce works well. Also like how first and last lines are the same :)
