secrets of the fog
draw me in its density
-depth of winter haunts
time to wear new eyeglasses
shed old snakeskin perspectives
come out of hibernation
there’s no looking back
after the mask falls – shredded
into smithereens
it’s not Imbolc as yet; but
my heart dances to glory
a feetless dance in the air
ornithologists
hunting for winter sparrows
look disappointed
weather here changes quickly
frozen mindsets thaw again
to welcome the light of dawn

That was a lovely poem and vision of winter, Reena. Beautiful.

Reena, your use of metaphor creates a transformative narrative in these verses. I think this metaphorical language adds depth to the exploration of personal growth and the changing seasons.

I struggle with villanelles, and the ones which ask for a specific tone. 😔
