Happiness lives somewhere under the white roof in green fields of regeneration.
I hope recycling transforms shapes but retains the purity of the core.
How does one define joy? A moment of exhilaration, trust and pleasure creating awareness of the privilege of existence.
Decades ago, it was a smile. Now it is a smiley.
We used to catch each other’s gaze when our eyes met. Now we follow each other on social media and meet virtually.
I locked happiness between red walls to prevent its escape. I’m going back to meet it again, accompanied by devices.
I’m back home, transformed.

A beautiful take Reena 🙂

Change is always hard, but I think the current changes that our technology has brought must surely be harder than most. Or am I just getting old? 🤔 Your story puts it beautifully, and I think your ending is superb – positive and hopeful.

We’ve always used devices and they’ve just evolved so those don’t bother me, but it’s sad when our smiles have disappeared and we only see others on the computer. Or maybe that’s just another step in evolution? Decades ago I might have been in a writer’s group and never gotten to know any of the wonderful people whose blogs and stories I enjoy every day? Thank you for making me think! 🙂

My hope at this point in my life is to finish my years in our quiet little neighborhood before it succumbs to pavement, acres of identical houses, gas stations, and shopping centers.

Exact replication is not possible. But getting close to it can give a holiday feel.

double edged sword isn’t it, social media is good, but also brings out the worst of people

Talk about it in politically sensitive times 😂 The toxicity beats nuclear weapons.

Dear Reena,
You’ve summed up the modern state of affairs in 100 words. I find myself longing for the world before social media….sort of. 😉
