When Facebook throws memories at her
jammed sensibilities; she fails to recognize
those faces or moments; those are memoirs
of a stranger, she does not know, a person
she would be ashamed of being if those
are true and not virtual or augmented reality
why would anyone want to make albums
that insist on continuity – why would anyone
sacrifice the freedom to reinvent for
the sake of a stupid concept called memory
the gypsie laughs derisively
on seeing the pic someone clicked
surreptitiously – dares to claim
she looks prettier than those black
rectangles can capture – she is
rare dynamism personified
A jamb-jitsu created for W3 Prompt #90 hosted by David

why would anyone
sacrifice the freedom to reinvent …. Such a strong rebuttal to the status quo. Defiance … Loved this response Resna 👏👏

Clever take Reena – fb has evolved, for me, into something very different to real life relationships 💞

Reena, your poem skillfully delves into the tension between virtual memories and self-reinvention, vividly contrasting the narrator’s hesitation with the gypsy’s bold defiance! And I love these words:
and
