Connectors

A breakfast of Aloo Tikki and Halwa feels heavy after the festivities, but the New Year also needed a traditional start. I brood on the pulls between the past and future that we often experience. This morning is no different.

I try to recall my thoughts on the first of January through the decades spent on this planet. The mindset shifts beat the speed at which climate change, artificial intelligence, and war are hitting us.

The velocity is unbelievable. We don’t grow from an embryo to our present forms. We live through a series of transformations – so rapid that we don’t feel the movement, like being in a Ferrari.

Is being all about connecting different parts of us?

sun sets foundations
moon links today, tomorrow
days yet to evolve

  1. Captivating haibun, Reena. “The velocity is unbelievable.” Yes it is! And there are “days yet to evolve”: the question is, are we capable of evolving with them for the betterment of the world?!

  2. I haven’t had breakfast yet so your breakfast of Aloo Tikki and Halwa made my stomach my rumble – I love both. I agree about the ‘pulls between the past and future’, and about the ‘speed at which climate change, artificial intelligence, and war are hitting us’. The sun and moon haiku links it all together.
