Brick by brick, history was built, but the builders did not know what were they doing.
It’s so easy to construct a building as per the given plan.
Who will inhabit it? What will be their place in the echelons of society? What kind of trails will they leave behind?
Will anyone ever know the sweat and toil trapped between the cracks? What were their dreams and ambitions?
Did they want to earn an honest living, execute a job meticulously, or find their way in the annals of history?
They laid the foundation for others to build their lives on.

And look what we have done with it! Sad.

Every building we walk through has a history we can only guess at.

Normally, we don’t extend such thoughts to buildings other than monuments. But I guess every building has a story.

Oh, to know the true thoughts of our ancestors. But I never will. Excellent concept, Reena.

Certainly, we used to build monumental buildings that would last into misty, far away years. Today, I’m afraid too many buildings are meant for only a generation or two.

Mobility and a hunger for change will not let buildings last. Builders also have work to do.

Love this Reena. I have often wondered how those who helped construct buildings and houses feel especially once it’s all done.

I guess they move on to the next project, unless the building is iconic.

My grandfather was one of the many immigrants who worked on some of the greatest buildings in NY. Here’s to him and everyone trying to make a go of it in 2024. Thanks for a thoughtful write, Reena. Happy New Year!

Most were enslaved to the need to feed, clothe, and shelter their loved ones. The overlords continue manipulating their vulnerable population of slaves. You’re right. The system is broken except for the few 😦

We have horrific stories about an emperor who cut the hands of artists who built the Taj Mahal
