Growing up

left alone
I built my fortress
with characters
and their precious
imaginary response

this lion is now tired
of catering to my whims
there’s a long path ahead
unwinding slowly
taking me
to the real world

Will the world catch up
with my almost lost
childhood years
and take it ahead
from there?

I often find myself worrying about your state of health. Then I cut out the thought saying “She is a strong person. She will overcome.”

Ease with language is the crux of a writer’s existence.
