sometimes
siblings kill a story
and
friends take it ahead…
a shared history
shared assets
shared home
defeated
by shared thoughts
non-judgmental companionship,
mutual respect and care
nothing more…
maybe a spouse
maybe a house
clash of interests
in an unfair will
drives apart
those nurtured
in the same
body and heart
then there’s something
called personality…
scattered genes
in different patterns
with exposure
to different worlds
philosophy, allegiance
-being true to self
means ditching an opponent
in a sibling’s garb
and then there’s something
called Love
to inspire fests
to re-ignite the spark
which united us
at life’s onset.

A great way of saying, “We don’t pick our siblings, we pick our friends. The dynamics of diverse temperaments among siblings raised in the exact same environment, always throws the superficial theory of ‘oneness’ of thought or interests among people who share a race or gender right out the window. 😉

We don’t pick our parents either. So genetics is a very jumbled game. It does not guarantee mutual comfort.

I am an only child. So this is all unknown territory for me.

I see sisters bonding well, and miss that kind of camaraderie and understanding at times.

“scattered genes

This is probably the most accurate description of mankind I have ever read. Brilliant.

Thanks a ton, Miriam! Genetic re-engineering and artificial intelligence will transform the world many times over, till it becomes obsolete.
