Do you remember the times we connected through songs, because we did not have the courage to speak our heart out?
Well, the present generation is far more vocal but uses the same methodologies. A girl came up with an idea for a startup or app – people listening to the same song at the same time can connect to each other and chat. They are in the same emotional state. Surprisingly, investors were willing to put money on her venture. I concluded that music remains a strong connecting force.
I wished those long drives would never end, because a song had not run its full course.
How did the lyricist know about my state of mind? Well, they succeed only if their words strike a chord with the listeners.
Music has changed. It feels noisy at times than meaningful. It is written for those who can wildly dance till the wee hours of morning, not for those connecting with themselves or others.
But rap is different. Though modern, it makes expression through music more accessible to the not so talented ones.
Well, I guess I digressed into nuances not of any interest to you.
This is how we grow – sometimes apart.
Maybe the same music does not appeal to you now. I find it stupid sometimes.
But it gives us a methodology to track how we have changed.
Tell me, which song is playing on your music player tonight? And tell me about the device you use. It will speak a lot about how you’ve evolved.

Very well written, Reena ❤
Much love,
David

Ah, my taste in music has never really evolved. The inner child still craves the oldies, and the current me, just goes with the classical and meditation instrumentals

I guess we are in the same boat.

What a brilliant response to the prompt, Reena! My hubby and I have the same taste in music. We listen to 70s, 80s, 90s rock and roll which brings on fond memories and more happy go lucky than the music of today. I think the key is to listen to music you enjoy and can identify with.

It is true about everything – attire, home decor, music. It should reflect your personality, not trends.

Music is often the thread that connects people first of all. I remember when I got married and I discovered that both I, and my husband liked same songs. It connected us when we needed that connection. Now our preference are wildly different.
Thanks for joining in my friend

A great look at music and the way it connects us. My heart is heavy from losing my precious Lucy Dog and so there is no music for me today. Well done, Reena.

My heart goes out to you. I’ve lost a 4-legged baby and know what it means.
Stay strong!

I listen to Christian music on my car radio. Other than that, I’m usually reading or writing, when I am not doing things with my children or doing things around the house.

Good to know your preferences. I prefer reading and writing to music too. As such, the TV and my husband’s phone calls create a lot of noise pollution 😀
