Another award function, journos pushing around for bytes, broken statements scattered around with no resemblance to the spirit of the conversation.
He is tired, dog tired of celebrating a successful persona, a persona built painstakingly to meet expectations, a persona that’s not him. It reminds him of the plastic excitement of puppies who escape with a shiny wrapper from the bin, and value the stolen trophy. Except that puppy love escapes him now, he is dog tired….
His fans put up a show which makes him feel indebted for life.
Does he really deserve a life that’s not his own?

What a great theme. Well done.

I suspect we all feel as if our life is not our own at times. Nice characterisation.

Fame certainly carries the loss of one’s reality, unless the famous person can manage to avoid a lot of the frenzy. Not easy.

And yet, so many would like to be there.

I do think one would become dog tired because, once famous, I’m not sure anyone is truly left alone.

Reena, I’m sure he appreciates all of the comforts that fake persona brings him. That said, the rich celebrities are often some of the unhappiest people around. Like Rochelle’s story (paraphrased) “there is a price to pay for streets of gold.”
I love the pic of the man (your husband?) and your adorable puppies.

As much as we would all like that lifestyle, I imagine it cane be relentless and full of pressure to perform all the time. A bit of ‘normal’ is not to be sniffed at.

Why should it not be treated as a job where people play their roles? The public is responsible for turning performers into larger than life icons.

So easy for a good singer/actor to burn out. A demanding public ruining lives with no care or thought… how typical. Good one.

You got it right with the term burnout.
