The fading superstar reinstates himself by owning a cricket team. Writing cheques to buy superstars of sports is intoxicating.
Rumours circulate that he chooses the cheerleaders himself. He is so sure they draw people to watch the events, much more than the performance of champions.
The stadium is full, but his team is losing. It may be the last match for his team.
The business reports a loss.
He invests money to make en-masse bookings for his own film. He happens to be the distributor of the film too.
He hopes it’s not the last film of his acting career.

Cheerleaders in Cricket? I had no idea.
Yes, age and illness can bring one down with a bang.
In reality, sports team ownership is a fine dodge of reality, at least in the USA.

Ego! Too much of it will often make you fail.

These egotists are either trying to reach a benchmark or surpass it. Originality gives more satisfaction in being yourself, but that’s lacking.

It’s a sad fact of human nature that we always want, need more. In some ways it’s good. It keeps us motivated and ambitious. In other ways it’s bad. When is it enough? Greed is a hungry monster.

There’s been quite a philosophical trend this week, and yours is added to the mix, Reena. Life beyond meteoric success, fame etc provides incredible food for thought. Where do you go to once you’ve reached the top in your field especially at a young age and these days they’re ever so more public than they used to be. Drugs seem to be another response strategy and tragically also suicide. It’s an intense rollercoaster ride.

Yes. Drugs, unwillingness to let go of stardom, endorsements for addictive gaming apps, titillating item numbers by ageing divas ….it’s all on the menu.

There is a saying: Those who can’t, teach. I’ve always felt that to be just a tad unfair, but the application here is that those who can’t, buy–if they can.
