she hated cooking
but looked after pots and pans
kept accurate records of grocery
always knew her inventory
she resented and grumbled
but helped my grandpa assemble
rare ingredients
for his experiments
in alternative medicine
she was not embarrassed
in talking about her beauty
in days younger
rejected suitors
she looked after
her long hair
shared beauty secrets
accepted us
unconditionally
Grandma was illiterate
but taught us a lot
about personality,
individuality
doing what you like
accepting foibles
demanding acceptance
and not accepting
imposed roles

She sounds like a very strong woman.

Important values, she taught her grandkids. Grandmothers are wise in all the things that matter. I love the photo. Old photos carry so much history.

I’d like to think she was, though there may be hidden parts I’m not aware of.
