I’m happy that I survived the churning of the washing machine, my insides being squeezed out to enable quick drying. Finally, I see sunlight….
not just in the balcony, but in the eyes of my friend who is ready to cuddle me once again.
After all, I’m his only confidante. I know that his teacher scolded him for scoring low in math’s, and his friend treated him to a chocolate after that.
I know he feels utterly helpless when his father hits his loving mother. He feels as squeezed as I do.
His mother pats our heads, and we smile.

Reena, you made me think of The Skin Horse in The Velveteen Rabbit story. Sorry the kids have to go through that and happy they have their buddies to hug.

We never know when something so small, so seemingly inconsequential becomes important emotionally.

Ohh such an endearing tale 🙂 Our kids had their favourite cuddly toys, they know too much to be stored away. Those much-loved friends know secrets from years as a confidante. 😉

I still have “my Guy”, a teddy bear my grandpa gave me the day I was born. He shared all my secrets and helped me sleep when troubled. I have left instructions that he is to be buried with me.

Ah, the case of the melting chocolate. No wonder the furry creatures are annoyed.

How many tears are shed into the fuzzy fur of the stuffies. A unique combination of the glad and the sad.

Yes. I saw an ad recently where the child dips a toy elephant’s trunk in the milk to feed him. Of course, the fabric absorbs the milk 😂

A toy is indeed a good friend and carrier of many secrets.

That is why children feel so dejected on losing a toy. It is real to them.
