When the marble broke

a careless construction worker
damaged the marble temple
installed with love on your grave

the news chipped away
a piece of my heart
then I hear a voice
the soul is whole…

you don’t live in there
it’s a place constructed
to give me emotional succor
when I’m down and out
to honor myself with
loyalty badges
to tell the world
love is immortal

It sure is …
except that it does not live
in the marble temple

when neural pathways
stop co-operating
brain starts giving away
love for you will remain
in folds of the soul
to manifest
at some point
if we meet again
in the unknown future
In stories of reincarnation

A timeless attraction
as we battle
changing concepts
and dimensions
of time
