shots of unity
not seen before
paint and reinvent
forgotten sentiments
-private ceremonies
to bury scandals,
resurrect glory
behind closed doors
-ignore

a loyal force
who faints but stands guard
swear it’s not hard
to be a part of history

betrayals melt away
as flickering flames
magnify glory of the orb
specter turns around
not hearing muffled sounds
disappointed by exclusion
fearing interruption
someone breaks the wand
and the spell ends

they watch from sidelines
of a fast-changing globe
demanding stolen gems
shredding racist cloaks

time gallops away
horizons change color
an era now bygone
re-tells stories
of shifting icons
throwing some
to oblivion
while others
await a new dawn
