Rohann picked up his car key and put it back for the umpteenth time. An answer awaits him at the other end, as promised by the seer, but he is not sure of the question yet.
He throws away the bottle of sleeping pills – it’s not a solution to sleepless nights. He has not slept, but remembers seeing a shadowy figure in a trance-like state and it was not a ghost.
The figure furiously attacks a canvas, with colors that exist beyond rainbows.
Long back, Rohann had given up his creativity in exchange for prosperity, and joined his father’s business.
Written for Six Sentence Stories

Could Rohann be sleep walking? Painting in a semi-conscious state, his creative self unable to be contained? If not, what cruel nocturnal torture.

I like the idea of painting in semi-conscious state 🙂 Maybe we do better. Thank you, Denise!

Such a sad, unhealthy exchange; perhaps he will take up a creative life once more.

I guess one should find room to satisfy creative instincts on a small level at least.

I feel so sorry for him… I once did the same thing, it was an empty life. And being unable to sleep on pills can make you see… Shadowy figures.

Ah ha! Nocturnal visit from (apologies to Dickens) the Ghost of a Life Un-lived.
The things that might have been, talents un-explored, surely there are few targets of introspection that are of a greater risk of despair than this!

I listened to your story (and several others). What a lovely voice you have. And such good recording equipment. Hearing things as the writer intends is always a plus.
