Shadows in the Sun, Sky and Soul

Sanaa Rizvi gives us a lovely prompt to fire all cylinders of creativity on Dverse today – Dungeons and Derivatives

The chosen line is

“Perhaps we are reading the shadows wrong; forever cannot draw a circle.” – Winter Moon ~ Part Three: Petals of the Sun

Sun God
seven horses of imagination
traverse the sky
-We trace paths
of immoveable planets

not knowing that
we move
every second,
fluids within
change every moment,
breaths get renewed
with every whiff of air
that comes from
the inscrutable sky

Perhaps we are reading the shadows wrong
forever cannot un-draw a circular path
each circle counts
contributes to evolution

I claim to know myself
when I cannot count
number of circles
I’ve traversed
returning to the same spot
but changing something
in the path

  1. As I read this I think of reincarnation, which is a circle of a sort. I do believe in the cyclicity in things but to me it’s a millions little intersecting circles. Thank you for the evocative spin, Reena.

  2. Wowww!! This is utterly exquisite writing, Reena! I love how seamlessly the lines blend with the chosen quote especially; “Perhaps we are reading the shadows wrong forever cannot un-draw a circular path each circle counts contributes to evolution.” Thank you so much for writing to the prompt 💝💝
