“Let’s go back…”
“I’m fed up of these daily excuses not to run.”
She was training for the next event at national level.
“It’s not an excuse. I’ll complete the distance running to and fro, to this point, but not beyond this.”
“Why?” There was exasperation in his tone, “there are no ghosts on that side. I can assure you of that.”
“Something worse than ghosts…. Look there, someone has dropped a pyjama drawstring, and unsightly things lay beyond.”
“OMG! Keep running in a loop of eight. Let me check what’s happening there, and give you an All Clear signal.”

dropped pyjama drawstring? omg, something couldn’t defy the law of gravity any longer. 🙂

I can’t decide if she is superstitious or just doesn’t want to run anymore. I like her friend’s response though. 🙂 Nice job.

I wonder how she knew it was a pyjama string? Perhaps she knows more than she’s letting on!

It looks too small to be a pyjama string actually 😀😀

PJ drawstrings are usually anchored at the back, which adds another layer of mystery. I don’t think I want to know what “unsightly things” lay beyond!

Running in a loop of 8 is creative 🙂

I wonder what the story behind the pyjama string could be? And why they have such a phobia? Nice one.

What could be a worse harbinger than a dropped pajama cord?

Dear Reena,
A lot to read into a rope in a figure eight. As a child I was terrified of my cousin’s tape recorder’s microphone. Something about the shape of it. Well done.

Going by numerology, number 8 people are difficult to tackle – being very strong-minded, independent individuals. Like the number, they tend to come back at the point they started from, not absorbing what happened during the conversation.
