separated by screens and masks connected by devices I often wonder if I hear them correctly humans spend more time peeping inwards eavesdropping to hear the voice of your conscience and soul strangers we have been not sure if more to ourselves or others

I so get this poem, Reena! I have hearing problems and the masks mean I am unable to complement the mumbles with lip reading. I also agree with the points you make in the second and third stanzas: there are those who are only interested in themselves, and others who want to know everything about everyone else but have no self-awareness. I personally try to keep a balance, which was more difficult during lockdown, as I only had myself to eb concerned about.

We become adept at keeping our innermost thoughts protected from eavesdropping, hiding behind our masks lest we become vulnerable.

You make a very good point in this quadrille and I think it’s a question that I need to ask myself!
