“OMG! I pride myself so much on my intuition, but it did not work this time. I should have stopped him from taking that forest trip,” wails the grieving mother on the untimely demise of her only son.

Youth is the time for adventures, but tragedy can befall at times, silently thinks the logical father.

The loss is unanticipated and equally devastating for all, but the approach differs. A hunch is just a thought from the deep subconscious – a fabric of experience, imagination and perspectives.

“My grandson was my belief in continuation of life, put together in flesh and blood – how could he evaporate into energy,” says his grandfather’s fading ink on the yellowing pages of an old diary.

  1. The death of one person, and especially one so young, can ripple through generations, its effect forever changing each person and their relationship to the world. The grief of the mother with her hunch, the father’s acknowledgement that tragedies occur regardless of age and the grandfather’s questioning the meaning of death. So well done, Reena.
