I decide to walk it to the neighbourhood store to buy a few grocery items, which I had run out on. I had no clue, I would feel so inadequate and clumsy in my jeans and sweater and barely-there makeup.
The sight which greets me on a Saturday morning is all the senior citizens in the complex going for a picnic on someone’s farm. The colourful hats, zany cardigans and eye-catching tote bags in all shapes make me look like one of their attendants.
As I cheerfully wave out to the merry souls, I know how would I like to grow old. No wonder their group is called “Malibu Funkies” (Malibu is the name of the housing complex).

What a cheerful looking group of shoppers! I can see how she might of felt out of place, but now she has a goal for when the time comes, if not sooner.

I want to be that kind of senior citizen (I’m way closer than I’d like to think!).

How refreshing! Now that’s the way to grow older (“old” is not in my vocabulary – always add “er” to it, lol) No age limit on fun, so let’s have as much of it for as long as we can 🙂

betcha anything, you go up (to that group) and yell, “Hey where are the old people” you’d get every response except “Right here.”

Very bright seniors, in spirit and clothes. Most stores in our area reserve 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for seniors only in these pandemic times. Nice story, Reena.

A pretty hip group. That picnic already sounds like a success.

Success does not take too much at that stage – just good health and spirit.
