Solitary

solitude
gently embraces
blends
into my being
effortlessly

generating
awareness
source of all
restlessness
lies outside

and then, I think
experience
to enhance the value
warmth of
being alone

holds others
at its centre
with all their
dissonance, consonance
music it generates

light that emanates
from an inner glow
reflects
searing suns
somewhere out there

I’m not others-centered
but awareness
is incomplete
without those
dreaded others

  1. I haven’t always felt this way, Reena, but I do now, and love the way your poem speaks, gently and honestly. Sometimes I dread the dissonance and consonance of those dreaded others!
