Nuggets of hope

I lap up every word on media
looking for a nugget of hope there
nobody knows what lies ahead
do you realize I’m just afraid

looking for a nugget of hope there
they sell strategies for future
do you realize I’m just afraid
I want assurance, not information

they sell strategies for future
I lap up every word on media
I want assurance, not information
nobody knows what lies ahead

  1. I think that with enough information we can also get reassurance… but we neither need panic nor false hopes of a quick win… the truth lies somewhere between. We need rules and advice that are sustainable to live by for another 5-6 months… alas I don’t see that a lot.

  2. I know that feeling. In B.C. we have a wonderful woman named Dr Bonnie who comes on tv every day and calmly, clearly encourages and reassures as as to how to get through this. She has emerged as a folk hero and B.C. has flattened its curve largely due to her leadership. It is simple: stay home as much as possible, when you go out stay six feet away from anyone, wash your hands………it is working.

  3. If you are wanting assurance and hope, the newscasts are not the place to go. I’m reminded of an old cowboy song which began “All day I’ve searched the barren wastes, with not a drop of water”. It seems to apply to our thirst for nuggets of hope.

  4. So powerful. If we could turn the “nobody knows what lies ahead” into the nugget of hope and inspiration to shift the tale, oh, what a brave world we could create!

    1. There are lot of stories of volunteers, healthcare workers, suppliers of essential services and keepers of law and order. We need to document every snippet and weave it into a story of survival and victory.

      1. Reena I watched a video last night about a hospital in NYC where the critical emergency room doctor got COVID-19, became well, and now he’s back and helping at the emergency room again. Our governor has put out a call to those who’ve gotten well after COVID-19 to come in for testing to see how to make vaccine from their blood. Two examples to add to your “story of survival and victory.”
