an autumn leaf falls at my feet nursed by roots trunk and branches sunlight and rain discarded in a cycle a fleeting thought connected to dark depths of ingrained beliefs of instilled fears of acquired lessons discarded by wisdom ephemeral life nurtured for years collected layers grown from here to there ended by death…

I like your comparison deciduous trees and beliefs. Thoughts that no longer serve us can be dropped like leaves that have served that season’s purpose and are no longer needed.

The comparison between autumn leaf and fleeting thought and ephemeral life is apt. Your poem evokes good and needful thought.

Ended by death …. or perhaps the leaf falls to earth to nurture new life in the age old continuum.

I thought I needed a better word for the last line. There was a short window in which I had to post. Will update it later. Thanks for your views!

Lovely images of transience–leaves, thoughts, lives. All things that come and go. Thank you!

Leaf cycles and life cycles tend to follow similar paths. Ours just take longer. Cool poem.
