going wild
changed meaning
from grabbing all the chocolates
to rebellious adolescence
to unconventional youth
to wistfulness
of adulthood
I wonder
why I only
wish to go wild now
what stops me
from doing it?
fear of wilderness,
weak will,
or fear
of repercussions?

I often feel that wildness within, even at my age. Thought provoking, Reena.

I like how you describe “going wild” as depending on one’s time of life and the resistance to it as the fear of wilderness.

Sad to think that the older we get the more fearful we become.

What will people say? We get trapped in constructs of our own making.

With this poem, you reminded me of the wild things I used to do, Reena, and I also wonder what stops me now. I think I might go a bit wild today, just because I still can.

You are so right. It matters that we still can.
