Where were you
when tears dried,
when commitment broke
to be replaced by another?
I will now live for myself….
Where were you
when something cracked
deep inside
to change forever?
I was not the same any more….
Where were you
with outdated norms
threatening to punish
non-compliance, strutting around
on stitched wings?
I woke up from deep slumber
to find my deepest voice
only to know
you never existed
you were never there…

I imagine you’re talking to an inner demon and that this will be the final exchange you ever have with it.

I wonder how often we imagine there is something in another being that simply isn’t there… and it could be either bad and good… often we imagine things that are only in ourselves.

Moving piece, Reena. It is a hard reckoning to come to terms with the fact that someone was never there for you.

It can also be a revelation that an evil one feared was never there. It was a facade to instil fear in you.

Waking up from a deep slumber does indeed help one connect with their deepest voice, but the experience is sadly ephemeral. And so, you can rightfully say that it was never there. Well done!
