Moss

moss spreads
like a skin disease
invading homes
in monsoons
watching it
gives me an itch
I know
it needs
to be scrubbed,
cleaned quick

before
it settles
on mindsets
blocking
originality
before voices
originate from
a distant past
jaded opinions
recycled with a twist

I know it
is a living being
but certain thoughts
replicate, multiply
refuse to change
become such a burden,
such a burden…
on the mind
that wants
to grow, move
die and live
at its own pace

  1. Something to think about! In Oregon where my daughter lives, moss tends to grow on rooftops and trees in winter because it rains so much. I find it somewhat unsettling. Good write.
