“That sounds romantic. Why should you two want to separate now?”
“We saw the characters we wrote in each other. The real faces are intolerable.”

I enjoyed this for how you wrote simply, yet quite succinctly of a facet of relationships we’ve all experienced at some time or another. As you replied to Paul, our inclination is to first see what it is we are looking for/want to see. At least your characters recognized this and ended things before it got too involved. Hopefully!
Another great Six, Reena.

Some fiction can seem quite real, while other pieces of fiction are hard to believe. In relationships finding someone who is real and the one we can believe and love is all important.
A great SSS presenting an interesting approach to this prompt.

It would have ended so differently if they had seen good characteristics from the characters they had written. Says something about both of them.

Ah, this is why you should never be anyone but yourself. Faking can get you into all kinds of messes.

Despite that, one is not responsible for another’s perceptions. How do I know which character the other is seeing in you?

There’s been a little fiction in most of the characters I’ve dated along they way to the one that was “no contest” but true love. Good six.
