For this day

‘“f I were you, I would think twice before entering that house. The owners have never been an amiable set of people.”

“We can’t cut ourselves off from reality. Our interest lies in it, and of course, there are old scores to be settled.” There is a faraway look in Henry’s eyes.

“Inform the police before hand.” I am concerned about the boy’s safety.

“It’ll set off unnecessary alarms. Besides, I see no reason to be scared of fake lions.”

I think I like the determination. Henry is the enemy’s son I’ve brought up as my own – for this day.

  1. I’m really concerned for the boy, does he know what she plans, that she kidnapped him? What a horrible revenge. Even bad people…imagine the feeling of seeing a child after having been lost for so long.

  2. I read this as a boy standing on the stoop, ready to meet his father for the first time. Proud mother, fake lions decorating the entrance way, perhaps, son determined and intransigent. Nice capture of the moment..
