There is a time to come to peace
Karma wasted, life's been a bitch
I look back at the obstacle race
barricades crossed stare me in the face
Karma wasted, life's been a bitch
I played with jokers, never an ace
barricades crossed stare me in the face
And I know, I made it this far
I played with jokers, never an ace
There is a time to come to peace
And I know, I made it this far
I look back at the obstacle race
Looking back

This gets you to the other side. I like the way your Pantoum works with the struggles in life that do seem to repeat themselves but we can get through. Great survivor poem. Hope all good with you now.

I get a sense of peace here, of satisfaction, that whatever barricades that were put in place, you crossed them. There is peace in resting in victory for a moment before going on. Good pantoum, Reena

Thank you, Jade! Survival is also an achievement, at times.

Yes it is, Reena, probably most times. We like to think of ourselves as being above all other life forms, but the reality is we are one of the life forms and this is a fight for survival.

To play with an ace always make life simpler…

The problem with aces is – they get redefined, reshaped, upgraded all the time – putting those beyond reach.

the last couplet of every stanza held deep meaning and also resolution from the preceding stanza. facing our demons with courage, there is no better way, very nice Reena, an effective pantoum

This made me smile–there’s an underlying toughness there that shows grit and survival. That’s what we need more of.

Sometimes coming to peace requires looking back and seeing how far you have come. Nice!

If only one could avoid the ‘jokers’. I’m still waiting for an “ace”. Ha ha! Yes, life can be a “bitch” ๐ Love the power in your poetic voice, Reena.

Nice lines: “I played with jokers, never an ace
barricades crossed stare me in the face” I can feel the frustration.
